JOHN LEWIS BLUEWATER

The introduction of a 16,500 square foot Waitrose Food Hall to the basement of the John Lewis anchor store in Bluewater, Kent necessitated a complete redesign of the existing fire and smoke strategy.

The establishment of a new trading area and escalator penetrations meant that smoke control needed to be introduced to both the new basement atria and the existing ground floor with all the additional complications of working in an open and trading store.

As JLP’s preferred partner for smoke and fire control, BLE along with Wates Retail were asked to undertake these works and complete them without hindering the day to day trading and whilst fulfilling a demanding programme to tight deadlines.

The project was opened on time with our successfully installed and commissioned smoke protection system.
